Author Biography
I live 40 miles beyond phone or power lines. Over 50 miles beyond mail delivery. No TV, no radio, no door to door salesmen or politicians. Also no running water. It makes life simpler and a lot more fun. Of course, there is also no trash pickup or sidewalks. However, what there is, is a life full of interesting things to do and I have never been bored, ever. I have lived in Alaska since 1969. I am a widow. I've operated heavy equipment, cooked, been a goldsmith, a taxidermist and a Registered Guide. I've built cabins and houses, waited tables, (very briefly, something to do with a pitcher of ice water and a customer) peeled logs, and painted pictures to buy food and clothes for my children. I've even chauffeured for a while. I have held licenses as Boiler Operator, Taxidermist, Mill Operator, Registered Hunting Guide, Fishing Guide and for Mining. Life is interesting so be prepared for anything. You never know what is going to happen next.
