by Elizabeth Renwick (Author)
The Fifth Column has taken up residence in San Francisco to implement a treasonous conspiracy and it's not long before they are making hasty inroads to success. The mysterious Fifth Column, a depraved collection of misfits, has set up operation right under our heroes' noses and weaves a path of destruction across The City as they embark on their treacherous quest. Follow the risky undertakings of Darcy, Marco, Frank, Brody and Sara as they throw themselves into unexpected peril at the hands of this most paralyzing and formidable foe. With each step, our gutsy group of champions gamble with their lives, playing long shots which inevitably uncover shocking answers and reveal a most dark and deadly plan - one that threatens the security their country depends upon - a strike at the foundation of all that is just and free. Darcy has been stuck behind a desk at the SFPD, but when she takes it upon herself to go undercover to work on a case; she gets more than she bargained for. Marco, an SFPD detective, is accustomed to having complete control of his life, so when things spiral out of control, he goes into a frenzy to put things back in order. Frank, Marco's partner, has a flair for the dramatic and makes miserable attempts to balance the conflict between his personal life and his life with Marco. Brody fashions himself as a sort of amateur sleuth while working as an investigative reporter at the local newspaper. But no one seems to really care what he thinks. Sara, Marco's cousin, is a successful mystery writer. She enjoys getting tangled up in Marco's exploits in order to gain fodder for her books. Join our urban warriors, led by Darcy, as they use their individual quirky talents, along with their expertise, to uncover what turns out to be one tremendously terrifying mystery. Will they be able to discover what it is and overthrow the Fifth Column before it's too late?
Author Biography
I have always been passionate about writing and now find myself with the time to relish in it. My background along with my international travels has garnished a wealth of emotions that pour out from my characters and are expressed in their surroundings, behaviors and experiences. I find that living in Southern California is agreeably delightful, with all the human variations as well as environmental - mountains, deserts, valleys and beaches; but traveling the world makes for many memorable adventures - and all the nicer to come home. At home my little "zoo" waits patiently for my attention while I write. Sheldon, an Australian shepherd, Chester, a mini-Sheltie, my two kitties, Henri and Pierre and my Cockatiel, Shakespeare share their love, patience and playfulness with me. They remind me that it's okay to be human - complete with flaws, flights of fancy and fantastic dreams.
